MCS BICYCLES

BMXWheels.com - BMX Reviews and Product Guide!

MCS Bicycles is one of the first BMX companies started on the east coast. Way back in the mid 70's MCS was founded by George Esser and Rick Connery out of a motorcycle shop in Pompano Beach, Florida. George Esser is the guy that founded the NBL - National Bicycle League. By the late 70's MCS was selling frames as fast as they could make them, of course it didn't hurt that they were based in Florida which has always been a HUGE BMX state.

Throughout the BMX boom of the 80's MCS changed hands a few times, but still made plenty of BMX frames and components. By the end of the 80's MCS had one of the best racing teams in BMX - the MCS/Eagle Snacks team. Those guys rule the east coast NBL circuit and sponsored guys like Todd Lyons, John Purse and Terry Tennette. The MCS Europe team sponsored guys like Christophe Leveque and Dale Holmes, you may have heard of them...

In the early 1990's team rider/employee Jeff Devido bought the brand and also launched a distribution company. Jeff also owns Bully Bikes and today both brands are still going very strong and even make complete BMX bikes. I still think they have alot more potential to become a more dominant and viable national brand, but things are so big in Florida, I think it may limit them form seeing the big picture and taking things to the next level.

Anyway, MCS and Bully both make good quality bikes, parts and accessories for BMX Racing and dirt riding, and they have a long history in the sport. Their web site has alot of product info and an excellent history page so check it out.
