GT BMX

BMXWheels.com - BMX Reviews and Product Guide!

GT BMX was started way back in the 70's by Gary Turner. Gary was a welder who started making BMX frames in his garage. He had unique designs and very good quality which helped GT earn a reputation as one of of the top BMX frames to have. Soon after a bike shop owner by the name of Rich Long came along and offered to help Gary take GT to the next level. By the late 80's GT Bicycles ruled the BMX industry, and in the early 90's GT carried the BMX racing industry through some very tough years.

At its peak in 1996 GT was doing over $240 MILLION in sales worldwide, had 5 major BMX brands, owned a worldwide distribution center with warehouses all over the globe all this was started in Gary Turners Garage. Rich Long was just a guy that owned a bike shop, but he was an incredible business man and truly loved BMX like so many of us do. Richard passed away that year and is corny as it may sound part of BMX died with him. Since then GT has changed hands and become nothing but a label for group of investors who own a distribution company.

The GT name does have some serious history in BMX, and they still maintain some good quality designs. So check them out.
